Norbeck Wildlife Preserve Located within the Black Hills National Forest, the Norbeck Wildlife Preserve covers 34,255 acres (13,862 ha) and is easily accessed from surrounding towns, Custer, Hill City and Keystone. Bordering Mount Rushmore National Memorial to the northeast and Custer State Park to the south, this area was originally designated as a preservation sanctuary for game animals and birds in 1920.
