Open to mountain bikers, hikers and horseback riders, the 109 mi (175 km) Mickelson Trail traverses along the Black Hills. Completed in 1998, this popular trail follows an old railroad line through pine forest and features more than 100 converted railroad bridges and four rock tunnels. There are 14 trail heads that can be accessed from various towns and communities in the Black Hills area.
